Message From HOD
I&PE Department was started in the year 1980 with an intake of 40. Now the Department has an intake of 60 for B.E. Degree, intake was increased from 40 to 60 in the year 2003. Department has highly qualified faculty and experienced staff members. Ever since its inception, the department has grown from strength to strength over the years in terms of increase in placement, active participation in various forums, conferences etc. The department has given lot of emphasis on learning Advanced Manufacturing Technology to narrow the gap of industry and institute. All the department labs are well furnished with advanced instruments, devices & software.
The placement of the student is quite impressive reaching to the tune of around 70%. 10% of the students are opting for higher studies in various parts of the globe for post-graduation. Students have placed in esteemed organizations Viz. Mercedes Benz, Toyota, Robert Bosch, TVS, RR Donnelley, Schneider Electric, TCS, and Accenture etc. Department has been granted with Rs. 11,00,000/- (2019-2021) under AICTE MODROBS scheme to modernize the Computer Laboratory. Computer Aided Design/Manufacturing laboratory is now equipped with advanced version of UG-NX software which is useful for students to learn design concepts. Presently six faculty members hold PhD degree in various thrust areas of Industrial and Production Engineering domain.
The curriculum of the Department is very well balanced with courses in the core Mechanical & Production Engineering as well as Techno-management areas. Department of Industrial and Production Engineering is involved in international forum called IDEEA – International Design and Engineering Education Association, IDEEA is a non-profit organization of institutions. More than 20 universities worldwide team up to create a unique educational experience for engineering and design students. Following the long and successful tradition of PACE (Partners for the Advancement of Collaborative Engineering Education), IDEEA hosts annual forums to provide a platform for academia, students and industry to meet, exchange ideas, foster collaboration and make new friendships. Scientific presentations on cutting edge research and education build an essential part of the “IDEEA Forum”. But even more important: It is the event to showcase the outcome and process of the IDEEA Global Collaborative Project. International and interdisciplinary student teams present their product concepts – virtually and physically. They use an additional pre-conference phase to work together in labs and to meet after several months of online collaboration. Each year the Forum takes place at a different member institution. In 2019, the IDEEA Forum was held at Tec de Monterrey, Mexico.
