NIE IDEATHON 2023

NIE IDEATHON 2023

National institute of technology Mysuru, organized “NIE IDEATHON” on 25.03.2023. NIE IDEAthon 2023 was a unique opportunity for young creative minds to come together, brainstorm, and float their innovative ideas and solutions to the real-world challenges. The students with diverse knowledge, background, and skill set can work together to propose smart solutions to complex problems and present their futuristic ideas in front of an elite audience from academia and industry. An Idea Presentation Contest (Oral/Poster) – Express “Ideas of Change” is organized to give participants a perfect stage to present their innovative ideas. Also, a Model Presentation Contest – Experience “Ideas in Action” offers an avenue to demonstrate the working models carved out of the novel ideas. NIE IDEAthon opens the doors for the innovative youngsters to explore endless possibilities of Campus-Corporate connect.

During the NIE IDEAthon 2023, Dr. Mahesh Rao, CEO of Aashaya Design Solutions in Mysuru, gave the keynote address. 47 teams from various institutions showed their work. 400 people came to the show. With “Smart Automobile – One Stop for all Automotive Requirements” as their model presentation and “Breathe free- A smart inhaler for a smart, safe, and healthier world,” as their concept presentation, our students and their collaborators advanced to the final round. Their theme was “IoT- enabled Smart Cities.” Our children competed against students from all around the state in the final round and took first place in both the model presentation (for which they received a cash prize of ₹10,000) and the concept presentation (for which they received an award of ₹8,000). Our students from the department of Electronics and Communication Engineering took first place in both competitions and received a stunning ₹18,000 in cash prizes.

The students made the ideal concept to product strategy that got them where they are now by answering all the questions during the idea presentation. The judges and teachers of NIE were also pleased by two designs that were designed for the Breathefree concept, one for children and one for seniors.

DETAILS OF THE PROJECT WHICH WAS EXHIBITED IN NIE IDEATHON 2023:

Two projects from Dept. of E&C, SJCE, JSSSTU, Mysuru was accepted for presentation at the NIE IDEATHON organised by National institute of Engineering, Mysuru on 25th March 2023.

List of projects:

  1. Smart Car – One Stop for all Automotive needs
  2. Breathe free- A smart inhaler for a smart, safe and healthier world

Brief Description about the projects:

Smart Car – One Stop for all Automotive needs

The automotive and autonomous vehicle industries have experienced rapid technological advancement. Along with the increase in vehicles on the road, driving safety concerns have also risen. Nowadays, adequate safety features are required for vehicles. The keyless entrance into the vehicle uses RFID cards. Security is boosted by the usage of biometric sensors. The fundamental concept behind a smart car is that we can use our fingerprints as a key to open our cars and that we can use IOT on our smartphone, PC, or other electronic device to monitor the security of our automobiles. The goal of this project is to create a working prototype for a smart vehicle system that, in the event of a crash, alerts the user’s family, the authorities, and provides the vehicle’s current location. For a passenger’s security, a panic button option is also present. Additionally, we demonstrate a system for monitoring the cabin and an interactive interface between a user and a vehicle that enables the user to remotely check on data such as temperature, humidity, altitude, air pressure, alcohol and smoke monitoring to prevent drunk driving, fuel monitoring and management system, and other data using a cloud service connected to an ESP8266 module. To optimize the smart car’s performance and boost throughput, three boards are used: a Raspberry Pi for livestreaming and processing, an Arduino for the car’s control system that interfaces with an RF receiver, and an ESP8266 module for sending sensor data to the cloud.

Breathe free- A smart inhaler for a smart, safe and healthier world

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma have been shown to be on the rise daily as a result of a variety of causes, including smoking behaviours, the use of dirty fuel for cooking, ageing, atopy-related family history, asthma history in a first-degree relative, air pollution, etc. It has been discovered that every two out of every three asthma sufferers have frequent asthma attacks, many of which are unplanned, deadly, and need for immediate medical attention. This highlights the necessity for technology to monitor the environment for the presence of triggers and avoid asthma attacks. The project’s goal is to create a preventative tool that may aid patients by warning them of any improper circumstances that can trigger an asthma attack. In order to monitor the environment and gauge the existence of triggers that are invisible, the project employs a collection of gas sensors. The microcontroller analyses the detected data to calculate the concentration of the allergen trigger before transmitting it over Bluetooth to the Android application. The Android app presents the information visually and alerts the user to any allergen concentrations that might be dangerous, assisting patients in taking the appropriate preventative measures to avoid triggers.

Brief Description about the projects:
B. SDR – Self Driving Car Implemented using Reinforcement Learning & Behavioural Cloning
The answer to strengthening the mobility intelligence connected with utilising is to use autonomous, self-driving cars. This project offers a practical method for putting a self-driving car into practise. Neural networks, computer vision, and artificial intelligence are the main foundations of the proposed work. We are using a variety of elements in our task, including mapping, monitoring, and nearby planning. We are able to effectively design a car that can exhibit accurate lane changes, parking, and U-activates on its own. The unique improvements we use include barriers and minimise detection strategies, street car trackers, and assessing each site traffic circumstances. This will result in a reliable, neutral self-driven car. It will successfully display appropriate lane changes, parking allocation, and automatic U-turns. The continual development of complicated systems, like self-driving automobiles, is made easier through simulation platforms (SDCs). The majority of the automatically created tests, however, do not significantly assist to developing trust in the quality and dependability of the SDC, according to prior findings on evaluating SDCs using simulations. That makes the tests “uninformative,” and conducting them often entails squandering valuable computer resources. By taking pictures of the environment, these vision transformers may be used in self-driving automobiles to determine the ideal steering angle. When compared to CNN models, the vision transformers perform better since they can use the attention mechanism to concentrate on the most crucial elements of the picture, such as road lanes, other cars, traffic signs, etc
