Greetings to you. As we begin 2021 with new hopes,  we are pleased to announce the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam young research fellowship award-2021, organised by AICTE’s partner-NGO, TERRE Policy Centre, in reverential memory of our beloved late President, Bharat Ratna and Scientist par excellence Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam. I would request you to widely circulate the information to the students in your institute.

TERRE Policy Centre believes in Dr Kalam’s vision and has instituted this to support student researchers in fulfilling their dream of research.

The aim of the fellowship is to distinguish young researchers from India with extraordinary promise and creativity who have made notable research contributions in the field of Environment Protection.

The annual fellowship notification is announced every year on Dr. Kalam’s Birth Anniversary (15th October)  of every year and the awards are announced on his Death Anniversary (27th July)  of every year.  The fellowship not only promotes Dr.Kalam’s Visions but it also commemorates these days in his memories.

The fellowship of an Academy medal to a Young Researcher shall be made in recognition of notable contributions that would have or already had a measurable impact on the protection/overall improvement of the environment, based on work carried out in India. Following is an indicative but not an exhaustive list of work areas concerned:

  1. Plastic
  2. Clean Air
  3. Agriculture
  4. Smart Environment-Friendly Technology and Innovation
  5. Health

Academic eligibility

Undergraduate, Masters in any of the field or appearing (M.Sc, MA, M.E and PHD or appearing) . Any citizen of India, who has not attained the age of 25 years on 31st December 2020, of the year preceding the year of fellowship, shall be eligible for the fellowship.

Fellowship will carry INR 25,000/– (Rs. Twenty Five Thousand) along with a Citation, Scroll and Medallion for selected first five projects each.

The submitted projects are scrutinized and selected by Eminent and Proficient jury panel of-

  1. Mr. Ashok Mangotra (IAS), former Secretary to the President of India
  2. Mr. Anil Arora, Environmental expert , former UNDP/GEF programme
  3. Dr. Satish V Kulkarni , US Embassy
